Sugar Cane is grown in mainly tropical climates, but it can be found as far north as Southern Spain and as far south as Southern Australia.

The map on the left shows the main cane sugar growing regions in the world today.

Sugar is derived from two principal sources:

Cane Sugar - a large bamboo type plant up to 5 meters and more.

Sugar Beet - grown in colder climates, it looks like a turnip.
